Co-Impact announces new partnerships with 9 initiatives through the Gender Fund

Attendees from Co-Impact’s Design Workshop held in February 2024 in Mexico. A number of the new grantees attended the workshop, aimed at helping them develop their systems change strategies with a gender and intersectional lens.

Co-Impact has awarded $2.6 million (USD) in grants to 9 organisations working in Mexico, Brazil, and globally.

In Brazil, three organisations have been respectively awarded design grants to advance an anti-racist education system (Projeto SETA), create pathways for women’s leadership in law (Plataforma Justa), and increase the recognition of domestic workers rights (THEMIS – Gênero, Justiça e Direitos Humanos). We also awarded a research grant to Centro de Pesquisa em Macroeconomia das Desigualdades (Made-USP) to conduct research on care and time poverty policies in Brazil.

Two organisations based in Mexico have been awarded design grants to develop care systems in the country (Oxfam Mexico), and strengthen the care agenda linked within the education system (Instituto de Liderazgo Simone de Beauvoir).

Co-Impact also awarded enabling environment grants to Fondo Semillas – a women’s fund in Mexico – to advance strategies for economic and climate justice, and Fundo Agbara – a black feminist fund – to support economic rights for Black Brazilian women.

Further to this, a Women in Leadership grant has been made to the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP). This is linked with the American Economic Association and will have global reach. This grant aims to improve the climate for women working in economics and address the barriers that prevent the advancement of women within the field.

A number of these organisations attended a design workshop in Mexico in February to help them develop their systems change strategies with a gender and intersectional lens.

At Co-Impact, we understand that many organisations that are working on the complex work of systems change often do not have sufficient space or resources to do the deep thinking needed to develop concrete strategies for their work. Our Design Phase aims to provide these organisations with the time, resources, ideas, tools, community, and support necessary for them to engage in deep strategic thinking and organisational strengthening work. Through the design process, these partners will be able to think through how they can scale their initiatives and work through the key systems and institutions their initiatives focus on.
