Ingrid Srinath

Ingrid Srinath is the Founder Director of the Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy (CSIP) at Ashoka University. She has been a passionate advocate for human rights, social justice and civil society in India and around the world for the past 24 years.
Established as India’s first and only academic centre for the study of philanthropy and civil society in 2016, CSIP has grown to be the authoritative source of research, convening, capacity building and advocacy over the past six years.

A graduate of the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, Ingrid transitioned from her 12-year career in advertising to the nonprofit sector in 1998 with Child Rights and You (CRY), where she was CEO from 2004-08. At CRY, Ingrid pioneered the development of robust fundraising strategies and systems and spearheaded CRY’s leadership of the successful campaign to amend India’s Constitution to recognise education as a fundamental right.

She has also served as Secretary General at CIVICUS – the global civil society alliance, Executive Director of CHILDLINE India and Hivos India and on the Voluntary Sector Committee of NITI Aayog, the Government of India’s think tank, the Securities Exchange Board of India’s Technical Committee on the Social Stock Exchange, and multiple international and Indian boards.

In 2020, Ingrid received the Distinguished Alumna Award from her alma mater, the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata.
