We’re sharing our Good News Alert, celebrating progress made possible by our program partners.

In Brazil and Kenya, our program partners are improving care for mothers and newborns, expanding reproductive health services, and rethinking how education research is led.

In Kenya, Lwala Community Alliance is contributing to a major effort to strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare. The five-year, KES 10.3 billion partnership, led by Kenya’s Ministry of Health with several partners, will support frontline health workers, equip nearly 200 facilities and improve care across 21 priority counties.

The ambition is both simple and significant: to help more mothers return home safely and give more newborns the chance to thrive.

In Brazil, ANIS is helping make essential healthcare more accessible in the Brazilian Amazon. ANIS is working in remote municipalities to strengthen protection networks and improve care for girls, women and survivors of sexual violence. In a region where geography can make already limited services even harder to reach, expanding access matters.

There is encouraging news in education, too. Mizizi Elimu Afrika is helping put Africa-led research at the centre of conversations about what young people need to flourish.

The organisation supported the launch of the HERI Africa Research Chair on Life Skills and Values Education at Kenyatta University. Alongside the new chair comes a research agenda focused on critical thinking, adaptability, collaboration and ethical leadership—skills that can help learners navigate a rapidly changing world.

These stories are taking place in different countries and sectors, but they share a common thread. Local organisations are working with communities and public institutions to improve services today while strengthening the systems that will shape tomorrow.
