Manager, Philanthropic Collaboration
Passionate about leveraging support for Africa-owned development initiatives and narratives, Jedi’s previous role with the German Agency for Development Cooperation (GIZ) saw her support Continental, Regional and National institutions in Africa to enhance their agriculture and rural development agendas, for food security and enhanced intra-Africa trade.
The daughter of a gender and development specialist, Jedi has from a young age been exposed to girls and women’s rights, and contributes gendered perspectives to the work she is involved in. A highlight during her time as a policy advisor for the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development came when she successfully initiated a study on women’s economic empowerment in agribusiness, whose findings were used by donor institutions to review the gender responsiveness of their global agribusiness portfolios. She more recently led advocacy on informal cross-border women traders in Africa, to ensure their crucial role was recognised within trade work.
Jedi holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy in Germany, and a Bachelor’s in International Development from the University of Leeds in the UK.
A native of Kenya, she has called many places home including Uganda, the UK, and Germany. Together with her daughter and husband, she currently resides in Gaborone, Botswana.
