Graduation Approach to Economic Opportunity – LatAm Initiative
Fundación Capital partners with governments to embed the Graduation Approach into public systems in Paraguay, Brazil, and Colombia, with the goal of lifting people out of extreme poverty through sustainable, systemic change.
In Paraguay, the organization worked with the National Government to support 60.000 rural households living in extreme poverty. In Brazil, it assisted the State Government of São Paulo to promote economic inclusion and social mobility for 18,000 single-parent families. In Colombia, Fundación Capital partnered with Prosperidad Social to strengthen urban employability and the capacities of low-income young women.
This initiative aspires to deliver improvements in key Graduation outcomes—such as income, savings accumulation, business assets, and resilience metrics. The impact evaluation implemented in Paraguay showed that households were able to increase their income by 13.26%, their assets by 47.8%, and their savings by 17.1% compared to the control group—evidence that with the right combination of support, people can move quickly from surviving to thriving.
