Agroecological Transitions to Build Equity, Economic & Environmental Resilience
RySS is transforming smallholder farming in India by shifting 2 million farmers to natural and regenerative practices. The initiative will ensure the agricultural system empowers farmers — especially women farmers — to realize their fair share from value-chains and have greater power in the system while improving climate resilience, reducing emissions, and eliminating toxic fertilizers and pesticides.
To date, 850,913 families have adopted natural farming, with 83,752 achieving a 25% income increase. India’s government aims for 10 million farmers to adopt natural farming by 2026 and named RySS the key National Resource Organization to help states with this.
